TROMBONE MAINTENANCE
Mouthpiece
The trombone mouthpiece should be cleaned weekly using warm water and
soft liquid soap and your mouthpiece brush. This sanitizes the
mouthpiece and removes foreign matter from the inside.
Bore
The inside of the trombone can be cleaned with water and soft liquid
soap using a trombone "snake" cleaner. This will remove germs and
foreign matter from the interior of the instrument. Be sure to handle
the slide section carefully to avoid denting the tubing.
Slides
Lubricate the tuning slide with slide grease about once a month to keep
it moving freely. The playing slide should be lubricated with slide
oil or slide cream and water each time you play the instrument.
Water
Key
If the water key leaks, have the cork replaced by a Roberson's repair
technician. Also, make sure the hole is not obstructed so that moisture
can be released from the horn.
Body
The lacquer finish on the outside of the trombone should be wiped off
with a chemically-treated polishing cloth after you play. This protects
the surface by removing hand acid and foreign matter.
Let
Roberson's Music give your instrument the best care possible!
