Kindermusik "Village" (Birth to 18 months)

Village What if there were a place for you and your baby where all the little miracles that seem to fly by so quickly were captured, magnified and celebrated? Where life's merry-go-round slowed down to let you and your child share in the magical moments that happen through music, movement, touch and sounds? Where you helped your baby to see, touch and hear the world in new ways and in turn you found new ways to be amazed by her? Where parents and children found the true meaning of community? There is a place! Kindermusik Village!

For 25 years, Kindermusik has brought music and movement into the lives of families and young children,sharing in the total development of each unique child with a joyful engaging approach to learning. Research shows that Kid cognitive, social and emotional development begins in a newborn's very first days of life, and from the very beginning, we can do much to stimulate that growth in very natural, loving ways. Kindermusik Village is for lap babies,crawlers and walkers accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Kindermusik Village educates parents: You'll have a wonderful time in the classes and you'll be surprised by how much you can learn while having so much fun! Kindermusik Village includes literature: Specially commissioned art in beautiful books for your baby will aid in visual tracking, shape and color recognition, and language development. These home materials will become a favorite addition to your child's bookshelf for years to come.

Kindermusik "Our Time" The 18 months to 3 yrs group.

Our Time This wonderful program focuses on your child's natural emotional development and recognizes his need for both the freedom to try and the assurance of your support. Exploration Time encourages his discovery of instruments, textures, sounds and movement. Language skills are fostered with singing, sound imitation and vocal play. Creative dancing to different musical "moods" affirms his urge to move. The anticipation and rewards of listening are introduced, and with turn-taking activities, social skills blossom. It's like training wheels for the bicycle of pre-school!

Wiggles & Giggles is one of four units you and your child will share in the Our Time experience. At home, in the car, and on family outings you can enjoy the Wiggles & Giggles At Home materials that bring the classroom experience into your daily life with songs, illustrated books, activities and music making.
Two CD's filled with beautiful music feature songs from around the world in many different languages, calypso tunes, classical works, and sounds from the natural world that invite your child to listen, respond and create!
Two Music and Movement Books created exclusively for the Kindermusik Library include Pete and P.J.--a story of a boy and his dog at bath time, and Watch Me!--a boldly illustrated book with fingerpaint designs and words that encourage imagination and creative movement!
A Home Activity Book features songs from class, creative activities for play at home, and Kindermusik Foundations of Learning insights to help you understand how the activities enhance your child's total development.

Kindermusik "Growing" Somewhere between 3 1/2 and 5 years of age, something happens to your child!

As a parent, how do you support this all-important transition? How do you help your child to stretch, reach and grasp - without pushing? You do it by providing a carefully constructed bridge between receptive learning and expressive learning.

Growing with Kindermusik encourages and strengthens your child's exciting new relationship to the world. Kindermusik uses music to encourage early learning and creativity. Music is the means, not the goal. The goal is a more alive, creative, and able child. Kindermusik matches the child's pace.

What will we do in class and why?

Singing fosters the development of your child's most important instrument, the voice, through vocal exploration, songs, and chants.
Moving develops body awareness, coordination, and spatial relationships through synchronized movement, creative movement, and simple dances.
Playing introduces a variety of musical timbres with percussion instruments such as rhythm sticks, jingle bells, drums, resonator bars, and simple instruments your child creates at home.
Creating stimulates your child's imagination and encourages new exploration with sound and movement.
Patterning boosts your child's ability to think musically through the integration of basic rhythmic and tonal language.
Listening cultivates your child's heightened attentiveness to sound discrimination.
Exploring timbre, dynamics, tempo, and pitch lays the foundation for conceptualization of the elements of music.

"Kindermusik for the Young Child"

Young Child is the capstone to the Kindermusik curricula. Preparing young musicians for a successful future of formal music training.

Between the ages of 4 1/2 and 7 years, children are ready to learn the fundamental musical concepts involved in instrument instruction, vocal study, and music composition in an encouraging and fun, yet structured environment. Kindermusik for the Young Child provides a group approach to music education which offers children a unique opportunity to develop a working knowledge of voice development, rhythm, notation, musical symbols and simple pre-keyboard, string and woodwind instruments.

Explore and learn to play a variety of instruments including rhythm sticks, resonator bars, drums, glockenspiels, dulcimers, and recorders. The introduction of each instrument is presented purposefully to ensure just the right amount of motivation, challenge and success for each child.

Build critical vocal development skills through singing, games, listening and echoing activities. Many children become accurate singers between the ages of 4 1/2 and 7 years and realize their first "instrument" as their own voice. The learning and repeating of songs and patterns is fundamental to the development of good musical memory.

Explore the world through creative movement. Movement is essential in all learning. The integration of a variety of movement activities is designed to complement musical learning and is based on a variety of approaches such as Laban, Dalcroze, Wiekart, and Gilbert. Children also learn about the rudiments of ballet, jazz and tap dancing as well as explore Mozart and other classical musicians.
